A dedicated team from Mending Kids International, visiting from the United States and Italy, partnered with our specialists at the Cardiac Centre to deliver paediatric and interventional congenital cardiac surgeries for children in Mauritius. During a site visit to Sir Anerood Jugnauth Hospital in Flacq, Minister of Health and Wellness Anil Kumar Bachoo met with Dr Vinay Kumar, a visiting vascular surgeon from Yashoda Hospital, India. The visit follows a Memorandum of Understanding that facilitates both the treatment of Mauritian patients in India and the deployment of Indian specialists to Mauritius for advanced procedures and training.

Fourth Structural Heart Programme Boosts Advanced Cardiac Care in Mauritius
Dr Kapil Lotun and his team from the USA returned to Mauritius to conduct the fourth session of the Structural Heart Programme at the Cardiac Centre. This initiative offers high-risk cardiac patients access to advanced, life-saving procedures locally, eliminating the need for overseas treatment. It also enhances the skills of Mauritian cardiologists through exposure to specialised interventions such as TAVI and other minimally invasive techniques.
